Expired boosters will reset
balance to zero. Boosters are available in 1GB and 3GB. The price you
pay provides you with the maximum speed your line can handle and you
will be allowed to download from the Internet a maximum of 1GB over a
period of 1 week. However, you can always top-up to extend the validity

The actual speed depends on few factors including but not limited to the quality of the DSL line, the distance from the exchange your DSL is connected to.
Also, some download servers impose restrictions on the maximum download speed per connection, per user, and per file.
You will probably get different download speeds depending on the server you download from.
Gulfnet Fair Access Policy (FAP) for residential Internet makes sure that Gulfnet customers get fast and reliable Home Internet connection at all times. By subscribing to Gulfnet, you virtually own part of our network. We try to make sure that no other user abuses the network in a way that affects your share of the network.
Why a Fair Access Policy?
A very small number of customers use an excessive amount of the network bandwidth, to the extent that it can impair the experience of others. The intent of Gulfnet's Fair Access Policy is to provide the optimum Internet experience to all customers.
Who is affected by the Fair Access Policy?
Some users consume much more bandwidth than the average user, and they will experience reduced download speeds as a result of exceeding their Download Allowance. By providing a Download Allowance, more of the shared bandwidth is made available for everyone to use. Most users will have a better experience as a result of the Fair Access Policy.
Online activities such as viewing Websites, checking email, watching video clips or similar short streaming media, and automatic software updates are unlikely to cause you to exceed the download threshold.
What happens in Fair Access Policy, How does it work?
Under the policy we have defined fair usage levels (Download Allowance/Daily Trigger) for unlimited data transfer (download) plans and needless to mention, the usage levels set are very generous such that most customers will not be affected by the FAP.
The policy is implemented automatically by monitoring your usage over a rolling 24-hour period. Each Gulfnet service plan is assigned a Download Allowance/Daily Trigger. The Download Allowance/Daily Trigger is the amount of data (in bytes), which can be downloaded by a subscriber without restriction within a rolling 24-hour period (starting 3:00am to 3:00am following day). As you download at a high rate, your allowance will be depleted.
On reaching the fair usage level (Download Allowance/Daily Trigger), the plan speed will be rationalized to 25% until 3:00am, while data transfer (download) remain unlimited at the reduced speed. Starting at 3:01am the speeds would be restored to normal and usage counter will reset as well.
What is my daily FAP trigger?
Each speed has a corresponding daily FAP trigger; call our Customer Care 181 6666 for details.
Triggers are implemented on daily basis and not monthly basis.

What is the impact of Fair Access Policy on data transfer limits?
The data transfer limits (download) remain unlimited using the new throttled speed (if speed was throttled).
Does the Fair Access Policy apply to uploads or downloads?
Currently, the Fair Access Policy applies only to downloads that is, data that you receive from the Internet. Uploads, for example, sending photos in your email, are not counted against your Download Allowance.
